Security at the UP Faculty of Arts

Crisis contacts during immediate threat

In the event of an emergency situation (violence, fire, seriously injured person, explosive device suspicious object, etc.) threatening life or health, call 112 or the fire brigade 150, the ambulance 155, the police 158. Alternatively contact:

Faculty Security Line: 585 633 636

University-wide security line: 604 994 400

Keep calm. Try to get yourself and others away from affected area if the situation allows. Protect people’s lives first and foremost. All other valuables (documents, personal property, university or third-party property) set aside at this time. Do not delay by packing and leave items in place!

Printed crisis contacts cards are available for pick up at the department secretariats and the faculty porter's lodge.

Where can I find out more about security?

Suspicious Mail Handling Methodology (in Czech) - outlines the processes, procedures and measures for handling suspicious mail that is delivered to UP. It is intended for all UP employees who handle or come into contact with incoming shipments from the outside. The aim of the methodology is to minimize the risk for UP employees and to prevent unnecessary alarms caused by improper handling of packages.

Manual for communication with people in a deteriorated psychological state and at-risk groups + related contacts (in Czech) - created in cooperation with the UP Support Centre for Students with Specific Needs.

Safety educational programmes for those working at UP are available on the CŽV Portal in the Continuing Education Programmes for UP staff.

For event organisers

The basic safety rules are summarized in the Methodology for ensuring the safety of soft targets when organizing mass events at UP  (in Czech).

In case you are planning to organize a major event where a high public participation is expected (e.g. AFO, Majáles, Faculty or University Ball, Researchers' Night or MEET UP), you need to report the information about the event to Mgr. Jitka Langová, j.langova@upol.cz, head of the RUP Security Department, who then forwards it to the Police of the Czech Republic. Events are reported using the form (Annex 3 of the Methodology) when it is known for sure that the event will take place, ideally at least one month in advance. In justified cases, events may also be reported 'at the last minute'.

Do not forget to distribute crisis contacts cards to all organisers with the contact details of the main organiser added. Cards can be picked up at the department secretariats and faculty porter.

Security incident traceback

After the threat is over, use the University's Security Incident Reporting Back application on the UP Portal. The form can be easily found by using the tile on the Portal.

This form is used solely for the collection of data, not for immediate resolution or intervention. In case of an immediate emergency, always call the Integrated Rescue System of the Czech Republic (police 158, ambulance 155, firefighters 150)!
